Pharmacy Technician

 

This 650 hour, 32 week Pharmacy Technician program will prepare the student for one of the fastest growing careers. The day to day role of a Pharmacy Tech is to assist the Pharmacist in a variety of duties; this requires the technician to be alert and well informed. Our students will develop skills in areas of pharmacy practice such as pharmaceutical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, pharmacy record keeping, mixing intravenous solutions, and the compounding of products to be dispensed. Special emphasis is on product knowledge and learning detailed information regarding drugs. The program also instructs understanding of a wide variety of tasks in both retail and patient care facilities. Graduates of the Pharmacy Technician program can expect to have careers that service the pharmaceutical needs of patients or engaged in the research and production of new medications with pharmaceutical companies. Pharmacy Technician is a career that is in high in demand. It is expected to grow as pharmaceutical research 6 continues to grow to maintain compatibility with the need for new medications to become available, and the needs of the aging Baby Boomer Population.
